Summer Breezes Art and Anniversary Sale

You're invited to visit Nourot Studio and see the art works in "Summer Breezes" by six women artists on display through September 15th.
There is also another reason to visit: Nourot Glass is celebrating 35 years in business this month. It seems like, well, another age when the studio first fired up in 1974. Then we did not know what we did not know and that probably was a good thing.
Now the studio has son Nicholas Nourot, 26, making glass along side of the "maestro". Please visit and give them your congratulations on 35 years in business. Blowing demonstration on Youtube.
Thursday August 20th from 4:30--7PM there will be a Benicia Chamber Mixer and you are invited to come celebrate and mix with the artists that are represented in the lovely "Summer Breezes" art show that is hanging now. Since June the furnaces have been off to economize (PG & E will not accept enthusiasm as payment as of yet). Now we are firing up: that means hot glass again and many new works by the famous artisans of Nourot Studio.
While you are there take a peak at the custom jobs that are in the pipeline: delicate soft yogurt cups in mint, pink and yellow for Big Spoon Frozen Yogurt Shops and also Corporate Awards for many new customers, etched with their corporate logo and personalization.
Social Group? Brownie Troup? This fall is a good time to schedule a tour of the Benician Glass studio of Nourot. See our tourist website.

Peddler's Day Fair this Saturday in Benicia

Dawn tomorrow is Benicia's Annual St. Paul's Episcopal Church Peddler's Fair. This huge flea market and antique fair is not to be missed. You can browse among such oddities as antique jewelry and dishes to furniture and war memorabilia. Books, toys and food can be found at the Peddler's Fair, too. The "Playground of Dreams" is nearby at the corner of First and Military; across from Safeway.

Just off First Street is the renowned Nourot Glass Gallery where "Summer Breezes" art show is going on now. Paintings by six women artists are included. Blown glass is featured in the Nourot (new-row) Gallery since 1974 at 675 East H Street. Just turn right off First Street going EAST down H to find the glass works.

August 2009 marks Nourot Glass' 35th year in business. Seek out the 'vault" with glass pieces from over a 35 year period. Many of the glass is now 20% off for the anniversary sale.

Parking in front won't be a problem. You can even walk to the Fair from 675 East H Street. To avoid crowds take the 2nd street exit off 680 north of the bridge; exit onto East 2nd; follow to Military East and take 5th to H Street to score a good parking space tomorrow.

Kara Young's Earth and Fire Sage

Kara Young, Santa Fe artist, is just one of the women artists whose works will be on dislplay at the "Summer Breezes" Show at the Nourot Glass Gallery from July 15--September 15, 2009. Here you can see the Kara Young work in encaustic titled: "Earth and Fire Sage". This dimensional and textural image is worked on canvas from colored pigements and plaster-like substances. The effect is solid and rich. Kara is a friend of the Nourot's from the old days: days when Craft was King. These works by Kara Young will be hung in the Nourot Glass Gallery for the first time beginning July 15th.
Come and see works in art from a variety of women artists. The range of styles is amazing. Many of the art works can be purchased at affordable prices.
