Beverly Hills SLS Hotel
Here is some more about the venue where the GBK Oscar Gift Suite will be held in February. Nourot Glass Studio is invited to attend and will be gifting the "Scarlet Nova" glass and other of their hand blown glass patterns to the celebrities that attend Oscar Gift Suite 2009.
The SLS is the latest global destination of the Stanwood Hotel Chain, a luxury hotelier with the reputation of being on the cutting edge of style and design.
SLS Hotel, Beverly Hills is a, Luxury Collection Hotel in
the highly desirable and dynamic heart of Los Angeles. Frits Van
Paasschen, President and Chief Executive Officer, Starwood Hotels &
Resorts, says "The hotel's leading-edge design by Philippe Starck,
unparalleled epicurean offerings by Chef Jose Andres and innovative
retail concept by Moss, make it an ideal setting for our latest hotel
within The Luxury Collection brand, offering global explorers a portal
to one of the world's most exciting cities."
Design mastermind Philippe Starck has created the look and feel of SLS under a 15-year design exclusive with SBE for the U.S., Caribbean
and Mexico. SLS Hotel at Beverly Hills is the first truly luxury hotel
that Starck has designed in North America, having single-handedly
redefined every aspect of the hotel experience in the 1990s and
spurred the 'boutique hotel' movement.
The guest rooms are said to have a"floating bed" on a plexi glass stand and bare side tables with i-pod dock and a simple pen and pad. Across from the bed is a flat screen TV ingeniously embedded in a black slab ala 2001. Hotel review sites call it "crazy cool."
The hotel features a unique dual guest lobby concept where one area caters exclusively to hotel guests, while the other is a lively, multi-faceted public dining and retail environment
called The Bazaar by Jose Andres.

Send Nourot to the Oscars
Celebrity watchers know that the upcoming Oscars is a time of freebies for the stars. Nourot Glass has been asked to participate in Oscar Gift Suite at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills on February 20 and 21st. The Phillipe Starck designed SLS Hotel is the newest of the Starwoods Luxury Hotel Chain. GBK Productions is the show producer. Shown are some of Micheal Nourot's red blown glass that will be gifted to the nominees at Oscar Gift Suite 2009.
Believe it or not we are trying to just survive here at the Nourot Studio and did not expect to have this expense so early in the year. Everbody says: GO to the Oscars! Yes we can?
Hitch: It costs $5,000 to get a table space.
They "include" photographers (4), pre-and show publicity, pre show press, at party press; guarantee some celebrity attendance (don't understand how that works) The hotel is hooo hooo cool.
See the hotel/promo group site and judge for yourself:
http://www.GBK Productions
The Nourot Family will be in Baltimore doing retail at the ACC Craftfair.
Rachel Tucker, our 30 something assistant she will go with retail help.
The big Nourot Glass pieces will be there. Let's hope this pans out. If you buy a piece of our special Oscar Glass your name will be put on a special Oscar Award we will have in the vault later in the year. Where's your bailout piece you ask? Well we will work on that one. Locals can also contribute to a special Oscar Suite account in the Wells Fargo Bank here in town. Thanks to all our loyal fans for your support and good wishes. We'll give your best to Leonardo, George and Brad. XXO Rach
