Gary Koeppel Impressario in Glass

A big new glass show is to begin soon in Wailea says the Maui News on January 26, 2009.
Gary Koeppel, a well-known California art and nature book publishing impressario for many years has been the one behind the Maui Marine Art Expo.
This time the medium will be glass and the show is titled "Maui Glass Art Expo". It begins in February-March at Wailea Beach Marriott.
"Both Sotheby's and Christie's have declared glass to be the prominent art medium for the next two decades," says Koeppel. "Even museums, including the Louvre in Paris, are acquiring glass for their collections, which positions glass art in 2009 exactly where marine art was 25 years ago in 1984."
Dania Katz is the art director. She says, "this show will be world class and I think just what the island needs, something new and fresh but also inviting for locals and tourists."
Later we may find out who is in it. And we'll let you know.
Works by the Nourot Studio are shown year round at the wonderful Eclectic Image Gallery in the Wailea Center. Owners Matt and Becky Patchoul have been introducing locals and travelers to the glass art of Micheal Nourot, Ann Corcoran and Nicholas Nourot for over 8 years. Many of the new 2009 "Shifting Sands" pieces pictured will be on display this Spring season at the Eclectic Images Gallery.
